Millennia Institute (MI)

Around 17 to 19 years old • 3-year A-Level programme (vs 2 years at a JC)

Year by year

  1. Millennia Institute

    The A-Level over three years

Millennia Institute paces the A-Level over three years instead of two and is the only place offering the A-Level Commerce course. Project Work is done in the second year and graded Pass or Fail. The A-Level results lead into the same university and polytechnic routes as JC2.

Choices along the way

Arts, Science or Commerce

Students are posted to an Arts, Science or Commerce course through the JAE. The same A-Level rules apply as at a JC: four content subjects with a contrasting one, General Paper and Project Work.

What this opens or closes later

  • Being posted to a course does not guarantee a preferred subject combination.
  • University subject prerequisites are the same as for JC students.

Entry criteria

  • Singapore's only 'centralised institute' — entry is through JAE on the same admission framework as JCs (L1R5/L1R4 gross aggregate).
  • MI accepts students with L1R5 aggregates that would not clear standard 2-year JC cut-offs, given the extra foundational year.

How admission works

  • Same JAE-IS application and posting process as JC.
  • The only pre-university institute offering a Commerce stream alongside Arts and Science.

What to decide

  • 3-year MI route vs 2-year JC route, weighing pace against subject or stream fit (Commerce is MI-exclusive).
